Ordinariness marks the music of Ittefaq. To make
matters worse, the album it has been released
without much promotion barring the occasional music
trailer on a TV channel. Moreover, the film has been
long in the making and everything associated with
it, including the music, carries a stale image. The
music directors are Dilip and Samir Sen, and the
lyrics are by Sameer.
The composition of the duet, 'Raaton Ko', by
Abhijeet and Poornima, is familiar and has nothing
much to offer. Still it is a tolerable track.
Poornima, who is not very active these days, is her
competent self while Abhijeet is his usual self.
'Main Aashiq Hoon' is fast paced and has Sunidhi
Chauhan and Babul Supriyo as the main vocalists.
Like the previous track, the composition of this one
too sounds familiar. 'Bom Mat Mar' is a typical Remo
Fernandes style track with inane lyrics and a
composition that is devoid of any novelty. The
saving grace is Remo, who seems to be enjoying
himself while singing it.
'Mohabbat Ho Gayee Hai' is a run of the mill
romantic track. Babul Supriyo has Alka Yagnik to
keep him company here. Supriyo's attempt to sing in
the style of Kumar Sanu is annoying. Hema Sardesai
joins Abhijeet in singing 'Tanana Dhir Tanana'. Like
the other tracks, this one too lacks novelty in
terms of composition and lyrics. The singers try
their best to infuse some life into the track, but
their efforts are unsuccessful.
The last track, 'Dol Dil Dil', is another
"inspired" track. A solo by Jaspinder
Narula, it is sourced from Ricky Martin's theme song
for the 2000 World Cup Soccer ' Cup Of Life'.
Jaspinder stretches her vocal chords to best effect,
but the familiarity of the composition makes the
track ineffective.
On the whole, Ittefaq is a listless album that
deserves a miss.
