Hrithik, Karisma win top IIFA

Naa Pyar Hai created a world record while bagging seven of the Kelvinator
IIFA Awards. It became the fist feature film to receive as many as 92 awards so
far.
And yes, you have guessed it right. Hrithik Roshan and Karisma Kapoor once again
walked away with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards respectively.
The academy also presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to Shammi Kapoor and
Waheeda Rehman for their invaluable contribution to Indian Cinema.
Conceptualized and produced by Wizcraft International Entertainment and promoted
by Dreamz Associates Pvt. Ltd. Super Bowl, Sun City finally rolled out the red
carpet and welcomed a huge gathering of stars from the Indian Film Industry. The
atmosphere dazzled as luminaries from both industries walked down the red carpet
and celebrated the coming together of the industry at a global level.
The glitterati to walk down the carpet from the industries included the most
celebrated actress of the 80’s, Bo Derek, Hrithik Roshan, Suzanne Khan, Sanjay
Dutt, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Sushmita Sen, Lucky Ali, Preity Zinta, Javed Jaffery,
Kumar Gaurav, Mr. & Mrs. J.P. Dutta, Mr. & Mrs. Rakesh Roshan, Javed
Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Randhir Kapoor, Nitin Desai, Sunil Shetty, Shamita
Shetty, Sonali Kulkarni, Smitha Thackeray, Suman Raghnathan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra,
Namrata Shirodkar, Arshad Wasi, Kim Sharma & Prem Chopra amongst several
others.
Hosted by the beautiful and reigning Miss World Priyanka Chopra and the debonair
Kabir Bedi, the grand finale witnessed the best of Indian and international
entertainment and was a visual treat, produced and designed using
state-of-the-art technology.
 As
South Africa’s welcome to Indian Cinema, the ceremony began with a performance
by Richard Loring’s ‘African Footprint’ reflecting South Africa’s
vibrant diversity by creating an explosive stampede of song and dance created by
the hypnotic heartbeat of the African drum, the haunting pennywhistle, the
inspiring words of poet Don Mattera and the evocative lighting melded with
energetic Afro-and Euro-centric dance styles.
The awards ceremony was dazzled by the first overseas performance by the
light-eyed heartthrob of Indian Cinema, Hrithik Roshan, who captured and stole
millions of hearts across Africa with his pulsating moves and grooves. Joining
Hrithik, were the sizzling Karisma Kapoor, the sexy ‘Rangeela’ girl, Urmila
Matondkar and prince of pop fusion Taz (Stereo Nation) and the Canadian duet
‘Les Oisraux De Paradis’, who performed the Rotating Pole Act, the only one
of its kind in the world. Audiences were enthralled by the performances.
