Khan criticises violent protest against 'Gadar'

Film
star Aamir Khan has criticised the violent-protest
against Hindi movie "Gadar, Ek Prem Katha,"
saying any dissent should be voiced peacefully.
''Though I have not seen the film, however, one
should not take law in one's hands,'' Khan said.
Since the film censor board had already cleared the
movie the violent protests were unwarranted, he
said, adding if anybody had objections against the
film the censor board should have been approached to
redress the issue.
About the underworld threat to the film industry, he
said it was the responsibility of the administration
to provide security to film personalities.
Aamir gave the entire credit for the success of 'Lagaan'
-- a film about human spirit, togetherness, truth
and courage -- to his better half saying, ''my wife
helped me a lot in successfully producing the film.
Otherwise, it would have been a very difficult
task.''
Aamir
said, ''so far my wife had not been involved in my
film activities but she wholeheartedly contributed
to this movie.
''I am very happy with the good response the film's
getting,'' he added.
On the simultaneous release of 'Lagaan' and 'Gadar,'
Aamir maintained that it did not affect his creation
as every movie had its own qualities.
About the film's international business, he said
that its originality had been maintained and
overseas distributors were trying for its
''mainline'' release there.
