Saif
: Sucess ke liye communicate karega
|
Saif
Ali Khan, who's had a tough time staying afloat in
the film circuit, will be seen soon in not one but
two films-'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Love Ke Liye Kuch
Bhi Karega'. Both films are youthful and funky. If
in 'Love Ke Liye' Saif has Fardeen Khan, Aftab
Shivdasani, Sonali Bendre, Twinkle Khanna and Johny
Lever for company, then 'Dil Chahta Hai' will see
him match histrionics with Aamir Khan, Akshaye
Khanna, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple
Kapadia. The best thing about Saif today is that he
seems to be enjoying his work, rather than moping
over his past flops.
There have been endless calls from people
telling him that he is looking good in 'Love Ke Liye
Kuch Bhi Karega' and 'Dil Chahta Hai'. "I'm
quite excited at the moment. Especially with 'Dil
Chahta Hai', which is like a Hollywood set up. It
has the Hollywood look, but the essence is Indian.
And then we have done things that we have never done
before. Like getting a hairstyle just for the film.
And in the entire film we've used live sync sound,
which is what a true actor will always welcome. With
dubbing it's just not the same."
The
new Saif says that he has learnt to communicate with
his directors. Earlier, he would wonder what he was
doing on a set. But with directors like Farhan
Akhtar and E.Nivas, he seems to have discovered his
bearings. Recalling a recent incident he says,
" I was doing this remake of a South Indian
film and I had no idea what was happening. So I
called up this director I know and he told me: 'When
in doubt, communicate.' I did, and it helped me a
lot."
So how does he look at all the films that he's
done before? Would he say that he failed in choosing
the right set up? "There are some set-ups where
even before the camera is on, you know it's a good
movie, and there are some where you don't feel the
vibes. Earlier it would irritate me, but now I sail
through. I've realized that it's important to give
equal concentration to both kinds of movies because
ultimately it's my face up there. I have to hold the
audience's interest. Yes, I have now started taking
myself seriously as an actor."....
Which
of the two roles are the closest to the real Saif?
Prakash in 'Love Ke Liye'or Sameer Mulchandani in 'Dil
Chahta Hai'? "Sameer Mulchandani in 'Dil Chahta
Hai'. He's me when I'm in a fun mood. I guess, an
urban kind of scenario is more my scene. I feel at
home with something like 'Dil Chahta Hai'. As for
the character in 'Love Ke Liye', the only thing
common between that character and me is the fact
that we both are married. Otherwise, Sameer has
shades of me. He has problems, and he also has the
right kind of friends."
In Bollywood people are said to have more
acquaintances than friends, so has Saif got any
friends in the industry? " I have friends. I'm
easy going in that sense. When I work in a movie, I
get along with everybody. But at the same time I
don't want to take them home with me. In that sense
one can also say that I have more acquaintances than
friends."
Some
other films that Saif has on hand are 'Aankh Micholi'
(in which his co-actors are Nana Patekar, Urmila
Matondkar and Karisma Kapoor), 'Na Tum Jaano Na Hum
Jaane' (with Hrithik Roshan, Esha Deol and Achla
Sachdev), Vashu Bhagnani's 'Koi Mil Gaya' and Sanjay
Chhel's 'Yahoo' with Govinda.
