BISKH
meet: Abhishek was witty, Sush was verbose,
and Jaggu... he was what he was!
|
Abhishek
Bachchan was in his element at the press conference
organised for Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai,
cracking jokes and chatting away to glory with the
fourth estate. Bachchan junior soon had the media
eating out of his hand.
The Abhishek-Rani Mukherjee-Sushmita Sen-Jackie
Shroff starrer is releasing on July 6. But Abhishek
was showing no signs of nervousness. "It is
Goldie's dream. And I'm glad we made this
film," he smiled. Debutant director Goldie Behl
of course was chewing his nails in nervousness.
"Man, I'm spaced out," he mumbled when one
caught him aside for a quick chat.
Jackie
Shroff in blue denims was chilled out. "It's
their day. Let the boys do the talking," Shroff
drawled, but not before adding, "Goldie is a
very talented boy. His enthusiasm has bowled me
over." The same sentiments were echoed by
Sushmita Sen who was at her verbose best. "The
minute Goldie narrated the script to me I said
yes," Sen revealed. "He's young and
talented and he's got his take on life right.
Believe me, he's made a very sweet film. It's been a
pleasure working with him. After doing this film, I
don't just have another good role to my credit but
also a ready-made family. Abhishek, Goldie, Srishti
Behl (the producer), Jackie, they are all family
now. I'll take them with me along with my
memories."
Abhishek's co-star Rani Mukherjee was absent, but
Sushmita made up for it. "You know, a lot of
people have asked me if I would have preferred to do
Rani's role. To be honest, I wouldn't suit it at
all. Lara Oberoi in this film is me. She's
ambitious, she wears business suits but she has a
heart."
Abhishek fielded his round of questions like a pro.
When a scribe asked him how he felt working with
young directors like Raj Kanwar and Goldie, Abhishek
grinned, "Hey, are you a friend of Raj Kanwar
or something? I mean, you are calling him
young." Thunderous applause broke out at
Bachchan junior's joke.
After
that, it was clearly Abhishek's day. When asked if
he was ambitious just like his character in the
film, he stated, "I'm very ambitious. And I
always get what I want." And are you ambitious
enough to forego your love for your career, the same
scribe piped up. A hush descended on the room when
AB answered this one. "My career is my only
love," he announced and applause broke out
again. Iss Bachchan ke bachche mein bahut
dum hai!
You can't keep him down for long: that was the
general prediction, and co-star Sushmita agreed.
"Mark my words, Abhishek is a lambi race ka
ghoda. I want to say this to all you people out
here. It's sad that in this industry, stars are
known only for their success. Agreed, he hasn't had
his fair share of success, but he's here to stay.
Abhishek is going to a BIG star. And remember I said
it first."
Yes, you've said it!
Late-night
Khan adventures: starring Aamir, Saif and Fardeen
Fardeen
Khan had an impromptu bash at his bungalow after the
Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega music release
party. His Love Ke Liye... co-star, Saif Ali
Khan, who was there with him at the music launch
party, and some of his friends decided to crash at
Fardeen's place for more fun. The party began around
midnight.
Since this was impromptu, Fardeen ordered dinner
from the Holiday Inn hotel. After a couple of rounds
of drinks the boys were hungry, so one group left to
collect their order from the Holiday Inn. There they
bumped into Aamir Khan and his team of Lagaan who
were dining at the coffee shop. They invited Aamir
and his friends to join Fardeen's party and
surprisingly, Aamir agreed.
But by the time Aamir and gang reached Fardeen's
place with food, Saif had left for home and Fardeen
had switched off the swimming pool lights, changed
into his trunks and decided to have a late moonlight
swim. When he saw Aamir entering his bungalow,
Fardeen rushed to change and soon joined the gang
for one more round of drinks in honour of the new
arrivals. After about an hour, Aamir and gang wanted
to exit as they had to leave for South Africa the
next day. But more was still to come.
As they were walking out of the bungalow, Paul
Blackthorne, the English actor in Aamir’s team,
slipped and fell into the swimming pool with his
backpack on him. The lights were switched off...
remember?...so the guy didn't see the pool! Aamir
immediately lunged to pull Paul out. After Paul was
safely out, the next worry was the camera which Paul
was carrying, but there was no way to assess the
extent of damage done to the camera in the dark.
Aamir and crew left. The rest had their dinner and
left and Fardeen finally wound up for the night. It
was four in the morning by the time he hit the sack.
Friends ke liye... kuch bhi karega...
Bobby
Deol turns papa!
Finally!
Bobby, the blue-eyed boy of the Deol family, is now
a father. Wifey Tanya gave birth to a bonny,
nine-pound boy at 2.30 PM on Saturday, June 16,
2001.
The entire family, including grandpa Dharmendra and Tauji
(!!) Sunny, were present at the Breach Candy
Hospital to share the moment of happiness with Bobby
and Tanya. An elated Bobby had said yesterday:
"We're expecting a boy. If that happens, I'll
call him Aryaman." Biwi Tanya is in perfectly
good condition, and the couple is thoroughly excited
about starting a whole new world with their Beta
No 1. Here's wishing the three of them all the
best...
