Engagement
ring was 7-carat heart shaped solitaire worth 18 lakhs
Samudra Mahal was the cynosure of all eyes yesterday. Dimple
Kapadia's old home at Juhu was the venue where Khiladi Akki
finally got hitched (officially) to Twinkle
Khanna! Dimple's mom, who stays in Samudra Mahal,
presided over the engagement function.
And it was big, jolly family reunion. A visibly
euphoric Rajesh Khanna stood with folded hands at the gates to
usher in the guests in the traditional way. Rinke
Khanna cancelled her shoot in Hyderabad to be there with
Twinkle on this special occasion. Dimple must have burnt a lot
of her candles to ensure that the function was a memorable one.
The couple's outfits were in the shades of
cream, designed by none other than Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla with
Twinkle beaming in a gorgeous cream ghagra-choli. She looked a
radiant bride all through. The designer duo had also racked
their brains to design and decorate the whole house for the
event!
The guest list included Jeetendra and close
friends the Roshan family, Pam Godrej, Asha Bhosle and Akshaye
Khanna. The Deol brothers Sunny and Bobby were also
present. Although Bobby excused himself to report for a shoot,
Sunny stayed back to enjoy the evening. Akshay's cousins were
also there at the event.
The guests after waiting with abated breath
cheered and clapped and congratulated the bridegroom as he
slipped the ring onto Twinkle's finger - with a 7-carat heart
shaped solitaire worth Rs 18 lakh! The ceremony took place at
5:20 pm, deemed as auspicious by the astrologers.
Later, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple danced with the
guests to the tune of Jai Jai Shiv Shanker! The media, which was
banned by the families, was in a tizzy. Twinkle pleaded the
photographers not to click them. The media did keep their end of
the bargain.
Before agreeing to this 'rishta', Rajesh Khanna
is reported to have had a man-to-man talk with Akshay. Twinkle's
parents were obviously apprehensive, as Akshay reputation loomed
large. At one stage, they had even opposed the match, but then
gave in for their daughter's happiness.
The reception was held at 9pm. Alls well that
ends well, atleast for now.
Na
Tum Jaano Na Hum is all about flashy designer clothes
Arjun Sablok's Na Tum Jaano Na Hum is a love story with a family
background. The movie stars Hrithik
Roshan and Esha
Deol in lead roles. Moushumi Chatterjee plays Esha's
aunt and Alok Nath plays her grandfather. The movie is all about
flashy clothes and costumes.
The movie is slated for release in the third
quarter of 2001.
Sony
wiser by Zee'sexperience!
Sony TV is a fast
learner. Taking a cue from Zee TV's 'Sawaal Dus Crore Ka'
debacle, the Sony heads have decided to not compete with Amitabh
Bachchan's 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The channel game
show, 'Chhapad Phad Ke', to be hosted by Govinda
will be telecast from 8 to 9 p.m., four times a week -- Friday
to Monday. Clearly, they do not want to even attempt contending
with the Big B on Star Plus. 'Chappad Phad Ke' will be aired
from the second week of January. The show is being co-sponsored
by Videocon which is reportedly paying Rs. 7 crore for 50
episodes.
Maharshtra
cinemas closed on Dec 20!
Better make sure you rent yourself a good movie for December 20
for cinemas all around Maharashtra will be closed following the
stir call of theatre owners. The strike has been called by the
Indian Motion Picture Distributor's Association (IMPDA), the
Cinematograph Exhibitors' Association of India (CEAI), the
Theatre Owners' Association (TOA) and the Central Circuit Cine
Association (CCCA). It seems that the issue of illegal telecast
of films through the zillions of cable televisions is the root
cause of the cinema owners' ire. The lackadaisical approach of
the authorities towards this situation is certainly not helping
matters at all. So to put across their point, cinema owners
around Maharashtra are going on a one-day strike on December 20.
Although theoretically cable TV operatiors are supposed to
obtain the rights from the copyright owners for telecast, the
practical scenario is vastly different.
 Big
win for Shah Rukh, Rani?
Aamir
Khan and Sonali Bendre made it big on Amitabh
Bachchan's 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' this Diwali. Now, the
show has brought Christmas cheer for Shah Rukh Khan and Rani
Mukherjee! Interestingly, the two are said to have the same
amount as Aamir and Sonali! Apparently, Shah Rukh Khan walked
away with Rs.50 lakhs while Rani walked away with Rs. 25 lakhs.
Some coincidence, isn't it? All the same, Star Plus heads are
not confirming the date on which they will air the episode. It
could be either Christmas day or New Years day. As for the
money, Shah Rukh and Rani will probably donate their winnings to
charities like Aamir and Sonali.
Sunil
Shetty: A Man of Few and True Words!
Well, though films are top priority on the macho man's agenda, he takes
much more out of life. Going beyond the glamour and glitter on the big
screen, Sunil manages his 'Mischief' business and restaurant. The Shetty
restaurant 'Thai Me Up' is not uncommon place. It has sure caught on big
time and is one of those landmarks that even taxi drivers seem to
convincingly reckon with. 'Thai Me Up' living up to tradition celebrated
its 'Thai festival' during which the half-minute fill up forms that are
usually complied to just for the sake of filling proved to be lucky for
some. The lots were drawn by wife dearest, Mana. And true to his word,
Sunil obliged 'a free dinner with Sunil' to the winners, along with a
couple of free trips to places like Thailand and Bangkok. So much for
living up to the true spirit. Whoever said Promises are made to be
broken? Not a gentleman's we're sure and Sunil fits into the latter
category. A thorough gentleman and a thorough host who made sure that
all his guests left happy people. And there goes yet another memorable
moment of their lives.
